Access
Google a satellite view of the Bahamian Breeze Waterfront Cottage at “455 Lola Road, Cedar Island, NC 28520”. The only house visible from our cottage is owned by super seniors, who visit a few days a year. This uniquely quiet, private and remote waterfront cottage is on Cedar Island, often called “the gateway to the Outer Banks”.
This is a water view property. Direct access to the water is limited by the sea wall. The dock does not have navigable or fishing depths, and is subject to storm damage. We can’t guarantee dock use. The boat ramp is a 2 minute drive, and Cedar Island “wild Horse Beach” is a 5 minutes drive. There are 5 miles of deserted beaches, rambling dunes, and herds of wild horses with 7 new foals this year. The riding stable is at the entrance to the beach. Dogs are welcome everywhere.
Cedar Island is closer to the outer banks than any other land mass and shares the same wonderful water views. But it is an Island and technically not the outer banks or Ocracoke. Cedar Island is accessible by the Ocracoke Car Ferry ($20 carfare, $1 walk on with a bicycle). You can also drive onto the Island from the mainland using the “Outer Banks National Scenic seashore” Causway. (NC Route 12).
Additional Notes
The dog fee is $20 per day. Please, no aggressive, destructive, un-trained or “protection” breeds. Pets must be kept off the indoor furniture and bedding. Smoking is allowed on the covered screen porch but not in the house.
